Our Lady of Perpetual Help Retreat and Spirituality Center consists of seven buildings on a 45 acre peninsula on the banks of the Myakka River.

 

The simply beauty of the banks on the Myakka river provides a natural setting for the spiritual landscape that surrounds the Center. It is a place of peace and tranquility, graced by live oaks and slash pines. Upon entering the gates, there is an overwhelming sense of God's presence. It is indeed holy ground...

 

 

Accommodations

Overnight accommodations are provided for retreatants in four Villas, totaling 26 bedrooms with private baths. Each villa has an adequate gathering space and kitchenette. Double occupancy accommodations are available for a maximum of 52 guests.

 

 

 

 

The Anne Mayer Conference Center

The Anne Mayer Conference Center is a multi-purpose facility that has seating capacity for 150 persons. The conference center is equipped with a large projection screen which provides for both power point and DVD presentations.

 

 

 

 

The Maxine and Ray Schirmer Dining Center

The Maxine and Ray Schirmer Dining Center can be subdivided into three separate dining areas with a maximum seating of 150 persons. French doors open on to a screened porch creating a comfortable outdoor atmosphere.

 

 

 

St. Joseph Chapel

St. Joseph Chapel is the crown jewel of the Retreat Center. With movable worship space it seats 150 persons. It is simple and contemplative in design. The stained glass windows depict a mini history of the icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help and provide quiet light conducive to prayer and contemplation. A life-sized statue of St. Joseph the Worker, created by New Mexican artist, Carlos Ayala, graces the entrance of the chapel.

 

 

 

 

The Holy Family Shrine

The Holy Family Shrine, donated by the Cursillo Movement in the Diocese of Venice is an original creation of sculptor, Paul Gaczy. It is a favorite place of retreatants for quiet prayer and contemplation.

 

 

 

The Rosary Walk

The Rosary Walk is located across from the Holy Family Shrine. This shaded, tranquil path along the Myakka River provides the opportunity for retreatants to meditate and reflect on the mysteries of the Rosary or simply walk the path in silence.

 

 

 

Prayer Decks

Prayer Decks are located at various sites on the Retreat Center property and offer retreatants quiet space to read, pray and/or meditate.

 

 

 

Stations of the Cross

The Stations of the Cross surround the Lake of the Blessed Sacrament and provide another prayer opportunity for retreatants to meditate on the Passion and Resurrection of Christ.
